Breaking News: Major Drug Bust in Wytheville, Virginia

Wytheville, VA – February 7, 2025 – Authorities made a significant drug bust on Friday evening, seizing a large quantity of illegal substances and arresting a female driver during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 81.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Cierra Brown, was pulled over by local law enforcement for speeding. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers noted suspicious behavior that prompted them to search the car. What they discovered was alarming: approximately 13 pounds of methamphetamine, 20 pounds of marijuana, and one kilogram of cocaine hidden in the trunk.

"This is one of the largest drug seizures we have seen in our area," said Sheriff Mark Lawson. "The quantities involved indicate a significant operation, and we are committed to keeping our community safe from the dangers of drug trafficking."

Brown, was taken into custody without incident and charged with multiple drug-related offenses, including possession with intent to distribute. She is currently being held at the Wythe County Jail awaiting her arraignment.

Local residents expressed concern over the implications of such a large drug bust occurring in their town. "It's shocking to think drugs like these are being transported through our streets,” said resident Emily Johnson. “We need to stay vigilant and support our law enforcement.”

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to determine the source of the drugs and whether Brown was connected to a larger trafficking network. In the meantime, officers are appealing to the public for any additional information that may aid in their ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse in the region.

The Wytheville Police Department encourages citizens to report any suspicious activity to authorities. Together, the community can help fight back against drug abuse and keep their neighborhoods safe.
